The GCT is a self-propelled 155mm howitzer based upon the chassis AMX-30 main battle tank. It was developed for the French Army to replace the Mk F3. The GCT is highly automated and at the time of development was the most capable self-propelled howitzer. It was exported to several nations given its age it is either upgraded or phased out.
