The Burundi army currently consists of 35.000 men and is to be reduced by at least 14.000 men. In the recent conflicts the army totalled over 45.000 men. The army mainly consists of infantry battalions, supported by few armoured vehicles and artillery. The serviceability of most equipment is doubtful.
